What fuel pressure should a GM vehicle have?

It depends on the engine. Many TBI engines run roughly 9 to 13 psi, while many port-injected engines run roughly 40 to 65 psi. Always check your service manual for the exact spec.

Can I use a universal fuel pressure tester on a GM TBI engine?

Usually not through a standard Schrader valve. Several listings above say they exclude GM TBI. TBI testing often needs a special adapter or an inline fitting.

Where is the Schrader valve on a GM engine?

On many port-injected engines it sits on the fuel rail. It looks like a tire valve with a small cap. Not every GM engine has one, so check your model.

Can these kits test direct injection engines?

Not the high-pressure side. These gauges read low-pressure systems. Use a scan tool or visit a qualified technician for direct injection testing.

Do I need quick-connect adapters for my GM truck?

Only if there is no test port on the rail. In that case you tap into the line with a quick-connect adapter set, which is sold separately from these kits.

Is a 0-100 psi gauge enough for GM vehicles?

For most port-injected GM engines, yes. A 0 to 140 psi gauge adds headroom if you also work on other vehicles.

How do I know if low pressure is the pump or the regulator?

A weak pump often shows low pressure at key-on and at idle. A bad regulator or leaking injector may show pressure that drops quickly after shutoff. Follow your manual's test steps to confirm.

Is it safe to test fuel pressure at home?

It can be, with care. Work in a ventilated area, wear eye protection, release pressure slowly, and keep sparks away. If you feel unsure, ask a professional.
