Hi, I'm Mehran Khan — Here's Why I Started Drives Expert
I work at Mukaram Khan Car Zone, where my job is sourcing and selling car accessories and parts — engine oil, spark plugs, filters, the everyday stuff that keeps a car running right. I’m there right now, not “used to be.” That matters, because everything on this site comes out of what I actually see and handle day to day, not something I read once and turned into an article.
What I actually do
Sourcing parts means I’m constantly comparing suppliers and brands before anything reaches a shelf — checking which spark plugs hold up, which oil filters are worth the price difference, which ones customers bring back with complaints. Selling means I’m the one standing across from a customer who has a specific car, a specific budget, and a specific problem, and I need to give them a real answer, not a vague one.
You learn things doing this that you don’t get from a spec sheet. You learn which “premium” parts are genuinely better and which ones are just marketed better. You learn what actually goes wrong with a part six months after someone buys it. You learn that the right answer for a 2015 Corolla and the right answer for a 2020 Civic are rarely the same thing, even if they sound similar on paper.
Why I started this site
Most car accessories content online is written by people who’ve never sourced a part, never sold one, never had a customer come back with a problem. It reads fine, but it’s disconnected from how these parts actually behave in the real world. I started Drives Expert because I was already doing this comparison work every day at the shop — it made sense to write it down properly, organized by vehicle, so it could actually help someone beyond the customers I talk to in person.
How that shows up in the guides here
Every guide on this site — engine oil, spark plugs, air filters, fuel filters — follows the same process I already use when I’m sourcing parts for the shop: check exact fitment for the specific make, model, and year, compare real specs against what the manufacturer requires, weigh price against actual service life, and be honest when there isn’t a clear best answer for a particular vehicle.
